Join the Club

The University of Waterloo Kendo Club is open to anyone who is a university student or older who wish to learn the way of the sword.

For those interested in joining us who do not have any experience, they are welcome to start during the first two weeks of the start of the semester. Visitors of any age may also sit-in and observe during our practices.

Visiting kendoka from other dojos and alumni are welcome to join our club/practices at anytime. Please email us in advance of your arrival so that we know when to expect you.

CLASS FEES

The UW Kendo Club is run by volunteers. Therefore, the club membership is used for paying for the space rental & bogu, events such as tournaments, kendo club development, and replacing equipment (bogu).

Please speak with any one of our instructors for more information.

Fees/Combo Deals include:
Kendo Club Membership + Bogu rental (per semester) is $35.
Shinai: $50 (will be required after first two weeks of the term)
Shinai Bag: $30
Membership + shinai= $80
Membership + shinai + shinai bag= $105

Semester club membership fees are payable by cash or cheque.

CKF MEMBERSHIP

Kendo members who are in bogu are required to register online with Canadian Kendo Federation;  in order to participate in official CKF events as well as to grade for ranks 1st kyu and above. Annual CKF membership fees are paid directly to the CKF via the following link: http://www.kendo-canada.com/ckf_membership.html.
